Despite the grim prognosis, Maasa’s spirit remained unbroken. She spent her final hours surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughter and stories over taco pizza and Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Maasa’s unwavering joy in the face of such adversity was a testament to her remarkable strength and love for life.
Sadly, Maasa passed away less than 18 hours after her arrival at Ava’s House, leaving her family with bittersweet memories of a life well-lived. They are grateful for the time they spent with her in her final hours and find comfort in knowing she passed in peace, surrounded by those who loved her most.

Maasa’s family invites all who knew and loved her to join them for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, followed by a Liturgical Wake Service. In honor of Maasa’s love for comfort and casual style, the family requests that guests wear their favorite jeans, sweatshirts, and cowboy boots, if possible.
