Bruce was born on October 4, 1949, in Houghton, Michigan, to John and Eleanor Trusock. From a young age, he exhibited a passion for academics, athletics, and service to others.
A standout student and athlete, Bruce attended Houghton High School and later earned a scholarship to play football for the Michigan Tech Huskies. From 1970 to 1973, he served as an offensive center, earning three All-Northern Intercollegiate Conference (NIC) honors and helping the team achieve remarkable success, including two first-place finishes.
In addition to his athletic prowess, Bruce excelled academically, earning the prestigious Omer LaJeunesse Award for scholastic achievement three times. His dedication earned him a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team in his senior year, a reflection of his ability to balance athletics and academics with excellence.

He was a devoted grandfather to Lily, Max, and Jack, cherishing the time spent sharing stories, exploring nature, and creating memories.
Bruce loved the outdoors, often hiking, fishing, or enjoying the peaceful beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. An avid golfer and music enthusiast, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures, from classical concerts to family travels.
Celebration of Life
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Houghton Community Center. The family will welcome guests starting at 1:00 PM. The service will reflect Bruce’s wishes to celebrate his life with stories, music, and reflections.
